Trampolining
In addition to artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, there is a separate discipline of gymnastics which is devoted to performing skills on a trampoline. Trampolining is split into four different events:
- Individual - this requires the gymnast to perform a routine consisting of a series of warm-up jumps to build up height, followed by ten leaps into the air performing a particular tumbling skill after each leap.
- Synchronised - this requires two gymnasts to work in synchronisation, performing each skill at exactly the same time in exactly the same way.
- Double mini - this involves a small trampoline and requires the gymnast to sprint down a run-way, performing just two different skills on the trampoline.
- Tumbling - this does not involve a trampoline but a springy tumbling track similar to a trampoline, down which gymnasts are required to perform a sequence of twists and flips.
